Gaude mater Ecclesia,
Laetam agens memoriam,
Quae novae prolis gaudia
Mittis ad caeli curiam.
Praedictorum ordinis
Dux et Pater Dominicus
Mundi iam fulget terminis,
Civis effectus caelicus.
[Carnis liber ergastulo,
Caeli potitur gloria:
Pro paupertatis cingulo
Stola dotatur regia.
Fragrans odor de tumulo
Cum virtutum frequentia,
Clamat pro Christi famulo
Summi Regis magnalia.]
Trino Deo et simplici
Laus, honor, virtus, Gloria,
Qui nos prece Dominici
Ducat ad caeli gaudia.

A Hymn for St.Dominic (usually sung at 1st vespers on his feast, Aug, 4th) composed by Antonio Vivaldi; the text itself, or its gregorian version, has been used in the past centuries for other purposes as well, like a hymn for St. Catherina from Siena, the 13th century hymn of Poland (Gaude Mater Poloniae) or the opening speech by pope John 23rd at Vatican II Council.
Here is its translation (Vivaldi used only verses 1, 2 and 5)
 Rejoice, mother Church,
 carrying the happy memory
of the new offspring whose joys
you send to the court of heaven.
Leader of the order of the predetermined,
 Father Dominic,
now shines to the ends of the world
 the citizen now made heavenly.
[The man freed from the workhouse of flesh
 drinks the glory of heaven:
in place of the girdle of poverty
a royal mantle is now provided.
The burning smell from the burial mound
with his numerous virtues
shouts to the servant of Christ
about the great deeds of the High King.]
To God the three and one
be praise, honour, virtue, glory,
who by the prayer of Dominic
leads us to the joys of heaven.

As performed by Margaret Marshall, soprano, and Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra.
Transcription by Guido Menestrina
