La celebre preghiera a Maria come "stella del mare", attribuita a Venanzio Fortunato e che tanto successo ha riscontrato tra i compositori dal gregoriano ai giorni nostri, se è persino stata adottata come inno nazionale dell'Acadia (il Sudest marittimo del Canada). 
In questo caso messa in musica (omettendo una strofa) da Lajos Bardos, compositore ungherese, direttore di coro e musicologo sulla scia di Bartok e Kodaly nonché appassionato, per l'appunto, di musica gregoriana. 
Pare che le lezioni di Bardos all'università fossero talmente interessanti che persino György Ligeti, suo collega accademico, si sedeva tra gli studenti a seguirle. 

The famous hymn to Mary, "Star of the Sea", which has been set to music by so many composers after its text was written probably by Venanzio Fortunato in the 6th century. It is nowadays the hymn of the Acadia Region.
In this case we propose our transcription from the Hungarian composer Lajos Bardos setting. Bardos, one of Bartok's and Kodaly's teaching methods followers, was fond of gregorian chant and they say his lessons at the University were so interesting that even György Ligeti, his colleague, used to sit among the students to learn from him.
