Pierre Villette was born in Normandy but lived most of his life, directing conservatoires and musical academies in warmer climates due to health problems (one of his lungs had to be removed in his twenties). 
His music is pretty much influenced by Fauré and Debussy, but also by the gregorian chant (particularly the music which was sung by Benedictine Monks) and medieval music.
